60-Plus Wellness Screening
60-Plus Wellness Screening offers health screenings, health education and referrrals to persons aged 60 and over on an annual basis in Connecticut. The program is run by Elderly Health Screening Service and is a mobile health screening and health education program involved in early detection of diseases and in promoting good health habits.
You must make an appointment and fast for 3 hours before the appointment. Your screening will take apprxoaimtely 45 to 60 minutes and includes the following: health history, pulse, blood pressure, electrocardiogram (EKG), blood tests (CBC, chemistry, sugar), urinalysis, blood in stool, glaucoma test, distance vision, hearing, breast exam, Pap/pelvic or prostate exam. In addition, our staff instructs each individual in appropriate health concerns for them.
60-Plus Wellness screening is a service that is provided for anyone over the age of 60 regardless of income level. There is a suggested donation of $25.00 ($35 with Pap testing) for the residents in the 47 towns that we serve. More or less is accepted. The actual value of our service is approximately $380.
The results are sent directly to you approximately four weeks after the screening. Your test report will indicate any abnormal test readings, which you may then discuss with your doctor.
Sponsors of the health tests include the State Department of Social Services, local communities, St. Mary's Hospital and the United Way.
